About

It seems as though the number of Linux-related web sites almost doubles each day. Most sites duplicate information and others focus on specific issues. The links below go to sites that we feel are important and useful Linux-related web sites.

LinuxQuestions.org - "Where newbies come for help!"

This site runs our favorite Slackware questions forum. If you have general Slackware-related questions or need help, this is a great place to join in discussions with a user community that's friendly and eager to help.

Linux Documentation Project

These people are great at explaining how to do things through their famous HOWTO documents.

Linux Weekly News

Published every Thursday, Linux Weekly News is an excellent source of news for the Linux community. Everything from kernel development to commercial announcements is covered.

The Official Slackware Store

This is store.slackware.com, the official online store for the Slackware Linux Project. Here you can purchase the latest release of Slackware, sign up for a Slackware subscription, or check out other Slackware products like stickers, T-shirts, buttons, and more. All your purchases here help support the Slackware project!

Slashdot.org

Currently the central web-based forum for geeks (especially Linux geeks), Slashdot offers daily news from the computing industry and the open source world, plus a comments forum always packed with discussions of the day's news.

Freshmeat.net

This site is updated daily with information about new software and new versions of old software. It also has a searchable ``AppIndex'' with links and information to just about all major Linux applications.

Linux.com

Linux.com is a site sponsored by VA Linux Systems. A sort of community magazine site, it's full of news, interviews, and columns.

Hacker Stickers

A company called "Hacker Stickers" sent me some nice Slackware sticker samples after asking if they could use the logo (which I agreed to at no cost, since I thought they were offering a good value to Slackware users). Live and learn, it seems I was a little more likely to get my order shipped than most people. Here's a review I found:

I found more like this with a bit of searching. If someone from this business cares to get ahold of us and ship the orders we've heard were never sent, we might consider restoring a link, but our good faith has been worn a bit thin. My advice is to not order from them. Sorry if anyone took this link as an endorsement and didn't get what they ordered. :-(
